Picker Wheel is a free tool for picking a random name from a list. It is built to need as little of your data as possible, and most of the time it needs none at all.

What stays on your device

Your wheels, the names on them, your theme and your settings are stored in your browser's local storage. They are not sent to us, and they are not visible to anyone else. Clearing your browser's site data deletes them permanently — we hold no copy and cannot restore them.

There is no account and no sign-up. Because storage is per-browser, your wheels do not follow you to another device or another browser.

No tracking, no ads

The site sets no cookies. There is no advertising, no analytics, no tracking pixels and no third-party scripts of that kind — not Google Analytics, not anything comparable. We do not build a profile of you and have nothing to sell to anyone.

Our host and CDN keep ordinary server logs (IP address, timestamp, requested URL, browser user-agent) for security and reliability, as any web server does. We do not use those logs to identify individuals.

Shared wheels

If — and only if — you use Share Wheel Link, that wheel's contents are stored on our database provider (Supabase) so that everyone holding the link sees the same thing. What gets stored is the wheel data itself: the titles and the names you typed. It is keyed by the random identifier in the link.

Anyone with the link can view and edit that wheel. Treat a share link like a document link: do not put personal or confidential information on a wheel you intend to share. If you never press Share, nothing about your wheels ever leaves your browser.

Payments

Supporting the project is optional. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe on Stripe's own pages. Your card details are never sent to, seen by, or stored on this site. We receive only what Stripe reports back about a payment — its amount, currency and status.

Children

The tool is general-purpose and is often used in classrooms. It asks for no personal information and creates no accounts, so it collects nothing from anyone, including children.

Your data, your control

Because we hold no account and no identifier for you, there is normally nothing of yours for us to look up, export or delete. Clearing your site data removes your wheels. To have a shared wheel deleted from our database, get in touch with the link and we will remove it.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
